One fine early morning it so happened that my father left home with some of my mother’s clothes and medicines along with his belongings looking out for my mother as he couldn’t find her at home.
I wouldn’t have known about this had my sister (living in the same city, Pune) not called me after about an hour saying that my dad has reached her place looking out for my mother. It shocked all of us and we were very much worried what would have happened had he lost his way. My father being an Alzhiemer’s patient we just wouldn’t know where to look out for him.
Our worries and prayers were answered on the same day while I was tuned in to listen to some music on BIG FM Radio. I just happened to hear somebody talking about Alzhiemer’s patients and how they walk out of home even without their chappals on. I was alerted and listened intently but unfortunately the songs started playing and I had to sit through a good 20-25 mins without moving an inch just waiting for the guest of the day to speak. Finally I got to hear Mr. Raja Narasimhan on air and the familiar questions that each of us as caretakers face while handling a situation like this one. Mr. Narasimhan again briefed about a simple band that they had developed that could help to trace down an Alzhiemer’s patient in a very simple way in case thye wander off.
As soon as I heard his name, I searched on google about Mr. Narasimhan and found out about the Wristband details myWanderLoop and immediately contacted the given number. An enthusiastic lady Ms. Priti Narasimhan answered the call and after we (my sister and me) briefed her about our father’s adventure of the day, she briefed us about the product and how it could help my father in case he wanders off in the future.
We as a family thank Mr. & Mrs. Narasimhan for being so very helpful throughout the registration process and until we got the band in hand. Trust me it’s the best gift that we got for our father. Thankfully he has been wearing the band so far and no complaints as such from him. He also celebrated his birthday on 4th October wearing it!!
